When Justin Cannon realized he was gay in his first year of college, he refused to accept the notion that homosexuality is irreconcilable with Christianity.

Cannon, 22, who is now an Episcopal seminarian at the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, sought to merge his Episcopal faith with his sexual orientation, eventually leading him to publish a study titled "The Bible, Christianity & Homosexuality" in 2005 during his senior year at Earlham College in Indiana.
