INTEGRITY VP HOUGHTON URGES MARRIAGE EQUALITY WORK TO CONTINUE IN NY DESPITE TODAY'S DEFEAT

Integrity USA joins all supporters of Marriage Equality everywhere who are disappointed by the vote today in New York State on Marriage Equality. In a 34 to 28 vote, the bill was defeated. The efforts of the many Integrity activists who campaigned and lobbied for the passage of this bill will continue until  the core American value of liberty and justice for all, really means ALL.


Integrity Vice President of Local Affairs, Neil Houghton, worked tirelessly with the Diocese of Rochester and Bishop Prince Singh to take a pro-active stance for this measure. Houghton, a New York resident himself, said, “While I am deeply disappointed in the outcome, I am so very proud of the senators who have spoken so well about the issues of constitutionality and love, rights and responsibility. Several Senators named their faith as a reason to vote yes.

“The struggle for Marriage Equality in this country will continue and Integrity will continue to work for its passage, not only in New York but throughout the country. We will not give up hope in the darkness of defeat. It’s time to regroup and continue to fight for equal protection  for all NY state residents. And, next time, we will win!”
